An autoresponder is a service which automatically sends out emails to the people who submit forms from your website. The main benefit of this service is that you can send a pre-written message or you can send offers as well.
Contact form7 is most popular contact form plugin. So in this article, I will show you that how to setup autoresponders in Contact form7.
- Scroll down on your contact page and you will see Mail(2) section.
- Select Use Mail checkbox and then copy email shortcode [your-email] and paste it into To textbox. We need this shortcode to send autoresponders. (You can see below image for reference.)
- This [your-email] shortcode will catch users email which he will enter in email box while submitting a contact form.
- Then enter your message which you want to send via autoresponder and then click on save button. Now your autoresponder is setup.

I have used autoresponder but my mail to address column I got this error “Invalid mailbox syntax ” I am using the filed name as [email] is used, how to fix this error.

is it possible to attach the selected pdf document depending on what the enquiry is about?
eg.
if the subject of enquiry is about “price” then the responding email will attach a “price list.pdf”.
if the subject of enquiry is about “size” then the responding email will attach a “size.pdf”

Thank you for the useful blog. I am facing issue with contact form 7 and go daddy configuration.
Domain and hosting providers are go daddy
I selected option send emails remotely . No emails were received after filling form no auto responders sent.
I changed settings to send emails locally. After this when form was filled business domain email received the form submission mail with details but auto responders enough though configured correctly was not sent to person filling the form.
Please help with auto responder mails functionality
